   King David

I want to thank John Ellis for the inspiration, his scenario Hellas is one of the best ancients I have ever played.Thank you Harlan Thompson and Paul Matica for the excellent graphics. Also thanks to Paul Cullivan for his graphics and superb Ancient Empires series(I have played Seeds many times). Thanks for the map to whoever made it. Stefan Hrtel- Thanks for your graphics and I hope you make another Alexander scenario. Thanks Fairline for the units. If I forgot anyone I am sorry and please contact me.

If you want to play as any other nation other than Israel in single player, then rename the SINGLEPLAYER.TXT to RULES.TXT.There is a copy of each in the SCEN FOLDER.

 The Scenario

Realize that this is a huge chess game.If you expect sweeping victory on turn 10 - it aint gonna happen (my Americanism coming thru :).

The infamous king piece - The king unit is 60% defensive. Think of this unit as your command structure for your army. This unit is not just the king but also the royal guard. Use this unit to hold critical terrain and cities. The king is also effective on the attack. You only get one except for Israel who also gets Joab, the commander of the Israeli army.

Each unit in the game is roughly 2500 men. Full mobilization in a modern society is about 10% of the entire population or 20% of the males. In ancient civilizations it was considerably higher percentage wise. It could be as high as 40% of the total population.

The tech in this scenario is not science for the most part. 80 - 90 % of the tree is political decisions made by you to further your legacy as a leader. The turns are one month and the movement rates high so watch out. The movement rates were turned up to simulate extended historical campaigning. The multiple city conquest will not happen as there are no railroads and your army will burn itself out on its own.

There is no stealing or capturing cities to gain tech. You cannot bribe cities either. The reasons are that the lions share of tech is religous or political. If Israel trades for any religous tech the nation "falls into idolotry" and you will disentegrate slowly. These are polytheism, Baal worship, national religion, child sacrifice and harnessing the sun. The basic idea is if it has anything to do with religion and you are Israel *DO NOT TRADE*.I would not give away Israeli techs either - but make your own call.

Normal Civ victory conditions apply. Under kingdom government (monarchy) each city can support 5 units. The same for empire (communism) . Tribal government cities support 4 units without penalty. Israel starts the game with no capital - refer to the history file.

Do read the history it will help you alot. The maps are cool to.

"And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it" (Zec 12:3 KJV).

 Hope you have fun- Ken
